eValue8 Health Plan Performance Initiative

eValue8 is an extensive Health Plan performance evaluation administered by the National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, and used by a number of coalitions nationally. The instrument constantly evolves, probing for evidence-based practices into issues that matter most to purchasers.  The process serves two purposes:

 

• Plan Sponsors can fulfill their fiduciary duty, confirming that members receive not just the lowest cost, but the best quality support.
• Plans can use the results to benchmark their performance for internal quality improvement purposes.

 

eValue8 states expectations, and measures performance in hundreds of areas under the following domains:

• Business profile
• Provider management and measurement
• Helping Members get/stay healthy
• Helping members become good consumers
• Helping members manage acute/episodic conditions
• Helping members manage chronic conditions
• Pharmaceutical management

What can employers do?

1. Participate in the eValue8 process, and drive improvement.
2. Use the eValue8 performance assessment in tandem with their own RFP, reducing clutter in the marketplace.
