As a health benefits consultant, I find the MidAtlantic Business Group on Health invaluable for two reasons; I establish relationships in a non-sales setting and I am exposed to advanced concepts and strategies that I can use for the benefit of my clients.
eValue8 Health Plan Performance Initiative
eValue8 is an extensive RFI administered by the National Business Coalition on Health, and used by a number of coalitions nationally, those in California, New York, Chicago, Florida, Detroit, Minnesota, and many others. For 2010, MABGH engaged in the eValue8 process locally with four plans: Aetna, Kaiser Permanente, Cigna, and CareFirst. This process has driven uptake of Pay-for Performance initiatives, The Diabetes Project, The Alcohol Project, and other health plan improvements.
eValue8 states expectations, and measures performance in hundreds of areas under the following domains:
- Plan profile
- Consumer engagement and support
- Provider measurement
- Chronic disease management
- Prevention and health promotion
- Pharmaceutical management
- Behavioral health
What can employers do?
- Participate in the eValue8 process, and drive improvement.
- Use the eValue8 RFI, reducing clutter in the marketplace.
- Use eValue8 findings in MidAtlantic purchasing decisions.
